Both garage door remotes stopped working?
actually they were working to open the garage door only. The button on the wall works fine. I checked the safety sensors and the lights are working on them and that appears to be okay. Batteries are good. I reprogrammed them and now it looks like the opener is recieving the transmition because the light on the back of the open flashes when I push the button but the door doesn't move.....and then if you try it later then it works....to open the door only....what could it be? (the opener is a Liftmaster)
If you must hold the wall button down to close the door you probably have a beam problem. The beams do not function going up. Look at the flashing light again. Count the # of blinks in the series. One blink alone or a sequence of two indicate a beam problem. The light is a diagnostic for the unit as well as a signal indicator for the radio. Clean the lenses on the beams and make sure both diode lights on them are bright and not just flickering.
