I'm taking the UHF part of our old Analog TV Antenna off to use it for the new digital signal & have ?s?
Specifically, the UHF end had a couple of longer elements that I think are for the old VHF signal and was wondering if I should remove them? Also, which way does the UHF antenna need to be aimed when I get it up on the roof? Should the V shape be aimed with the open part toward the station or should the point where the 2 parts of the V come together be aimed towards the station?

Do not try to modify a TV antenna. Anything you do to it will only degrade its performance. Even if all of your local stations are on UHF, you antenna will work best as it was designed.
An antenna that has V-shaped elements is oriented so that the open side of the V is pointed toward the transmitter location.
